The hosting of the Asian Development Golf Tournament in late August will contribute to affirming Da Nang's position as Asia's Leading Festival & Event Destination while promoting the development of high-quality tourism and moving the city in the right direction. This international sporting event, especially BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022,  promises a feast of exciting activities.

Huge opportunities for attracting luxury guests

On the homepage of its website, the Asian Development Tour (ADT) says: “ADT will develop a new step into Viet Nam with the organisation of the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2022 at the BRG Da Nang Golf Resort from August 31 until September 2". International professional golf tournament has returned to Viet Nam and this is the second time the country has hosted a such international golf event after the Ho Tram Open 2015.

During a press conference to announce the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival and the BRG Open Golf Championship Da Nang 2022 On July 26, Mr. Ken Kudo, a representative of ADT expressed his pleasure at receiving a request from the Da Nang government and BRG Group to organise such a tournament this year. He remarked that recent years have witnessed rapid development in international standard golf courses like the BRG Da Nang Golf Resort.

“Previously, Viet Nam had successfully hosted many major Asian Tour events. Therefore, we believe that this event will continue to mark an important milestone for Vietnamese golf, especially for Da Nang. Our golfers are very excited to come to Viet Nam to compete and experience the golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman.” Mr Ken Kudo added.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism said that golf tourism and other types of high-quality tourism associated with sports, relaxation and health care have become new tourism trends in the world. The city's tourism industry is targeting such international key markets for golf tourism as South Korea, Japan and Southeast Asian countries in an attempt to drive the recovery of international tourism in Da Nang after the COVID-19 pandemic while promoting the development of high-quality tourism in line with the city's orientation for tourism development.

Long-term orientation for tourism development

According to the World Tourism Organization’s assessment, golf tourists spend 6 times higher than normal ones. Therefore, the city is moving in a right direction to promote the development of its tourism sector with its orientations to target the high-end tourist market segment, contributing to gradually developing Da Nang into one of luxury travel destinations in Asia. In its efforts to drive gradual recovery of the tourism industry and build linkages between providers  of golf courses and golf resorts in Central Viet Nam, as well as promote golf tourism, and the destination of Da Nang as a whole, the city’s tourism industry will work with these providers to open their golf courses to locals and tourists in order to help them learn more about golf tourism.

Mrs Truong Thi Hong Hanh, the Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, stated that tourist behaviours and demand have changed due to the COVID-19 outbreak as they are showing keen interest in seeking green, safe and luxury tourism products. Among high-end golf courses in Central Viet Nam are one in the BRG Da Nang Golf Resort that is designed by Nickalus and Greg Nornam, and the other in the Bana Hills Golf Club. Da Nang is blessed with beautiful beaches, international standard resorts, good transportation infrastructure, and other perfect factors which all offer huge potential for golf tourism development.

The hosting of the Asian Development Golf Tournament will help Da Nang earn media value on a global scale. This tournament will be broadcast on 27 domestic and international sports channels that are expected to reach more than 423 million viewers in the Asia-Pacific region along with 380 million others in other parts of the world. All events within the framework of the Da Nang Golf Tourism Festival 2022 will open up huge opportunities for Da Nang to promote it as the top golf destination in Asia. Da Nang will host this tournament for 3 consecutive years in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
