Speaking at the inauguration ceremonies, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang emphasised that during the two resistance wars against French colonialists and the US imperialists, soldiers and people of Quang Nam - Da Nang stood shoulder to shoulder, and upheld the spirit of daring to fight and being determined to win, thereby achieving many brilliant victories. The resounding victories were forever engraved in the hearts of generations of people in Quang Nam - Da Nang.

He highlighted the profound humanistic significance of the inauguration of the steles in commemorating heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the homeland.

Secretary Quang hoped that the abovementioned projects will become ‘red addresses’, preserving the revolutionary traditions of the Party, government and people of Quang Nam and Da Nang; and an inviting destination for Youth Union members, children and people to learn about the nation's history and glorious revolutionary traditions.

The predecessor of Battalion No.3 under the Quang Da Front No. 44 was Battalion No.7 (706 Dong Mit) of Regiment 64 of Division 320A. During the resistance war against the French, the battalion took part in many resounding battles and achieved many outstanding victories.

During 10 years of fighting on the fierce Quang Da battlefield (1967-1977), Battalion No.3 always fulfilled its tasks well. The Battalion’s outstanding and typical achievements greatly contributed to the overall victory of the army and people of the Quang Da Front No. 44 in the long resistance war for national liberation and unification. In particular, more than 3,000 enemy soldiers were eliminated from combat, nearly 300 ones were captured, and many enemy war vehicles were destroyed.

With a particularly outstanding victory, on November 21, 2022, Battalion No.3 was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces by the State President.

The stele honouring the trophy of the 21-day-and-night battle of Battalion No.3 is built on a 400m2 campus in Dien Hoa Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province, with a total cost of nearly VND500 million.

The VND 2.5 billion stele commemorating martyrs of Battalion No.3 is constructed on a 1,200m2 campus in Dien Tho Commune, Dien Ban Town, Quang Nam Province.

The construction cost of the two works came from the local budget and socialisation capital.
