Vice Chairman Minh introduced his guest to the city's potential, advantages, and development orientation in the coming time.

He hoped that ADB would sponsor the city’s project on responding to climate change and managing and minimising natural risks because Da Nang is one of the localities heavily affected by climate change.

The local official asked for support from ADB for the city's business community in promoting innovation start-up activities and improving labour productivity and competitiveness.

In addition, Mr. Minh expressed his wish that ADB would work with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to provide train courses on enhancing the leadership and management capacity for the city's leadership team.

He also took the opportunity to thank ADB for its active support and good cooperation with Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole, in recent years. He voiced his hope that Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty will continue his efforts to develop the good relationship during his working term in Viet Nam.

For his part, Mr. Shantanu Chakraborty acknowledged that Da Nang is a young, dynamic and modern city, and is economic hub in the Central Viet Nam and Central Highlands regions.

He unveiled that ADB's upcoming goal was to support Da Nang to respond to climate change towards developing green economic growth.

In particular, ADB has coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics to organise the workshop "Future thinking and foresight" for leaders of the central provinces of Viet Nam which is slated to be held in Da Nang on November 29. The purpose of the event is to improve the management and administration capacity of leaders in promoting the socio-economic development of Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular in the coming time.

Country Director Shantanu Chakraborty said that Da Nang and ADB have had a very good cooperative relationship in recent years, affirming that he will continue supporting the central coastal city in areas of mutual interest.

The re-establishment of cooperation with Da Nang marks 30 years of cooperation between ADB and Viet Nam, and between ADB and Da Nang.
