Da Nang Airport transformed into tropical garden
The first decorative mural painting, part of an arts project to turn the Da Nang International Airport into a tropical garden, by artists from the Tan Ha Noi Arts Company was recently completed.

The painting, made by paints produced by French-based industrial paint producer Guard Industrie, covers a pillar which is 7.4m in height and 6.4m in diameter with bright images of plants and flowers.
Painter Nguyen Thu Thuy, head of the group, said she wanted to transform the severe-looking cement pillars by painting enlarged images of popular tropical plants of Viet Nam, such as banana and water sweet potato.
“We used to apply acrylic paint in the domestic space,” she said, “We hardly did any outdoor paintings with acrylic paint as it would fade due to the weather until I was introduced to this painting materials.”
“I know Guard Industrie often provides nano paint protecting concrete and stone surfaces for several works worldwide. Many old buildings in Europe have been renovated by paints produced by the company,” she said.
Right after the mural was completed earlier this week at the airport, 2 experts from the company tested the paint’s durability by pouring water on the mural and rubbing the surface with towels — the colours did not fade.
Thuy has often used ceramic and porcelain materials in various decorative works throughout the country, including the ceramic road at the Ha Noi dyke along Hong (Red) River and the ceramic flag on Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago.
