Many private and public hospitals in Da Nang show willingness to ease burdens facing blockaded hospitals
Currently, many of Da Nang’s large hospitals which are put under lockdown must fulfill their ‘dual missions’ of treating Covid-19 patients whilst performing their professional tasks in handling other diseases as normal. In the face of this huge challenge, many private and public medical facilities across the city now show their willingness and readiness to receive Covid-19-free in-patients transferred from these existing blockaded medical establishments in a bid to help ease the burden the latters have shouldered in over recent times.

On his personal Facebook page, doctor Tran Hung, the Director of the Da Nang-based Family Hospital, recently expressed his willingness to join Da Nang's efforts to alleviate heavy burdens encountering the blockaded hospital.
In a prompt fashion, the Family Hospital has already set up an 140-bed isolated area exclusively for patients and their caretakers transferred from the blockaded Da Nang General Hospital, provided that both of whom have been tested negative for Covid-19 for the first time.
A special heed is now paid to ensuring the continuous treatment for these transferred patients, in tandem with maintaining the safety for existing inpatients at the Family Hospital.
Till date, a total of 30 Covid-19- free inpatients have been transferred from the blockaded Da Nang General Hospital to the Family Hospital for treatment. Many of them now suffer from such serious diseases as acute renal and respiratory failure and cancer.
Medical workers on duty in this isolated zone are always equipped with adequate protective gears in accordance with the Ministry of Health- mandated regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control.
“In the current complicated Covid-19 situation, our active involvement into our city’s tough fight against Covid-19 is extremely necessary. Nobody is not left behind now”, doctor Hung said.
In a supportive move, the 199 Police Hospital, which is under the management of the Ministry of Public Security, have till date received a combined total of more than 200 Covid-19-free inpatients from the already-blockaded hospital of Da Nang General, C, and Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, 36 of whom are patients diagnosed with chronic kidney failure.

All staff members at this hospital have worked at their full capacity to realise the pandemic prevention tasks, with importance attached to ensuring the normal operation of examination and treatment activities here, in parallel with timely detecting and handling suspected cases of the novel coronavirus.
A male patient residing in Hai Chau District who has been transferred to the 199 Hospital Hospital for dialysis from the C Hospital said, “I now feel more secure as I am cared for well by dedicated and kindheart medical workers here”.
The 199 Police Hospital’s Deputy Director, doctor Nguyen Van Dang, affirmed, for this very stressful time, any mistake might result in a high risk of infection in this hospital, and in the worst scenario, the whole hospital is highly likely to be put under harsh lockdown due to possible links over Covid-19 infections.
Deeply aware of this tremendous challenge as “A miss is as good as a mile”, every patient and medical worker in the hospital must strictly comply with the country’s pandemic prevention and control regulations. “We must do our utmost now. If we give up, who will care for our patients?,”, said doctor Dang.
