Da Nang calls for more help from Japan to promote waste sorting at source
A delegation of the Japan-based Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), in coordination with the Da Nang Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, has recently inspected the actual implementation of the project of promoting waste sorting at source and Reduce – Reuse- Recycle (3R) programmes in Hai Chau and Thanh Khe districts over the past time.

This highly practical project is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Japanese city of Yokohama.
The delegation discussed with the 2 districts’ authorities, especially the grassroots officials who directly implement the movement of waste separation at source in residential area, about the difficulties and problems encountered during the deployment process, and recommendations to expand the above-mentioned project into other local districts in the coming time.
The municipal Department of Natural Resources and the Environment is actively working with IGES, JICA, Yokohama city and related parties to jointly discuss project scope, specific activities, the methods of project implementation in Phase 2, especially the expansion of the project into other local districts.
