Warnings against 3 unlicensed cosmetic products containing banned substances
The E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency under the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued a warning about 3 cosmetic products of Dr Therapy Melasma containing mercury, and all of them have yet to be licensed in Viet Nam.
Previously, Drugs, Cosmetic and Food Quality Control Center of Hai Duong Province had bought the products above on Shopee and performed testing. The results showed that the mercury levels on the three products exceeded the allowed level of heavy metal limits in cosmetics.
The products’ components on labels contained 2% of hydroquinone which is unallowed on skin care cosmetics as regulated.
in addition, the product label, saying “Made by UK”, does not specify the production batch, the name and address of the organisation or individual responsible for bringing the product to the market according to the regulations, without the name and address of the manufacturer, all of which do not meet the regulations on cosmetic labelling.
Besides, the Drug Administration of Viet Nam has not issued the receipt number of announced cosmetic products for imported ones to the three products and they are not allowed to trade in the market.
The E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency recommends that consumers do not use the aforementioned products and report to the nearest authorities if detecting organisations or individuals trading in these products.
