Raising awareness of intellectual property rights amongst start-up businesses
Last Saturday, a total of over 100 representatives from local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and start-up businesses, in Da Nang, attended a seminar entitled ‘Intellectual Property - Its Importance for Start-up Businesses’.
The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Entrepreneurship Support Company (DNES), and the Representative Office of the National Office of Intellectual Property of Viet Nam (NOIP) in Da Nang. The intention was to provide the participants with useful knowledge about intellectual property rights (IPR).
Addressing the event, NOIP Deputy Head Le Ngoc Lam highlighted the significance of IPR in protecting creative ideas of businesses. He also stressed the importance of IPR in the context of rising inflows of FDI into Viet Nam and the country’s increasing involvement in international trade agreements.
Also at the event, some IPR-related experts remarked that local start-up community has yet to be fully aware of the important role of IPR. In particular, start-up businesses have yet to pay more attention to IPR registration rather than investment attraction, financial plans and market research.
In addition, these experts gave useful advices to young local start-up lovers who were facing with difficulties in registering and managing IPR. Their advices also helped start-up enterpreneurs prevent possible risks during the implementation of their projects.
