Da Nang provides support for children in need

In addition, local authorities and relevant agencies have given children the opportunity to voice their opinions, aspirations and concerns in order to enable the best support to be provided for them.

Since June 2022, the Da Nang Charity and Children's Protection Association has provided support for 10 orphaned children in Hoa Vang district. Each of them will receive cash assistance valued at VND 1.5 million every quarter during the 2022-2027 period, and the Association’s aid funds raised will come from donations by its members and philanthropists. The Association plans to provide for gradual increases in cash assistance for these children until they graduate from colleges and universities under the Godmother programme launched by the Viet Nam Women's Union.
The Godmother programme was one of the highlights of the Children’s Festival 2022 which took place in the city on May 29 and was co-organized by the Da Nang Charity and Children's Protection Association and the municipal Youth Union. The exciting festival has returned to Da Nang after a 2-year interruption due to COVID-19. To mark this occasion, the organizers gave 300 gifts to disadvantaged children and awarded 100 scholarships worth VND 1 million each to these children.
In response to this year's Action Month for Children, the Da Nang Charity and Children's Protection Association has implemented meaningful activities to help and support children in need across the city. The heed is paid to visiting and offering cash assistance to 75 pediatric patients at the Da Nang Paediatrics and Obstetrics Hospital. In addition, scholarships valued at VND 6 million VND each were granted to 3 school pupils in difficult circumstances in Ngu Hanh Son and Hoa Vang districts. Furthermore, a teenager from a poor family in Cam Le District was honoured with VND 50 million cash award for filial piety. Besides, 56 poor families with children were provided with means of livelihood totalling nearly VND 300 million VND while more activities were carried out across the city in an attempt to provide better care for children.
In particular, the Da Nang government has given children the opportunity to voice their opinions, aspirations and concerns at a dialogue between them and the city’s leaders and representatives of local relevant agencies to mark the Action Month for Children 2022.
Deputy Secretary of the municipal Youth Union Nguyen Thi Anh Thao said that the municipal Youth Union is working with the municipal Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs along with the City’s Da Nang Charity and Children's Protection Association to seek best ways in their capacity to ensure children’s issues raised at this event are promptly and satisfactorily resolved.
