Efforts to help the poor enjoy a happy Tet
With around 3 weeks to go to the Tet Festival, many organisations in Da Nang are busy preparing gifts for local disabled children and poor social policy families to help them enjoy a warm and happy Tet.
In response to the ‘Tet for the Poor and the Disabled’ campaign launched by the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, Red Cross chapters across the city will present over 15,000 gifts, worth 300,000 VND each, to poor and disabled people.
According to the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, over 13,600 families of poor and single women will receive a total of 700 tons of rice in addition to their Tet allowances.

The Da Nang Labour Federation will give 2,800 gifts, worth 500,000 VND each, to poor workers. Viettel Group, the mobile service provider, will offer 1,000 cell phones, worth 660 million VND in total, to very poor families.
In addition, more than 15 billion VND from the city’s budget will be spent on Tet allowances for social policy beneficiaries.
In the month since the launch of the ‘Joining Efforts to Help Poor People to Celebrate Tet’ programme, the city’s Fatherland Front Committee has received numerous donations from generous individuals, organisations and businesses.
In detail, 79 Construction Company has donated 500 million VND, Sanouva Danang and Ho Chi Minh City hotels 500 million VND, Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Company 300 million VND, and Phu Hoang Transport Services Company 110 million VND.
Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage will give 100 gifts, valued at 400,000 VND each, Coca-Cola Beverages Vietnam Limited Company 150, worth 500,000 each, and the city’s branch of the Kien Long Bank 200, worth 300,000 VND each. The Fatherland Front Committee chapters across the city have registered to present over 4,000 gifts in total.
All the above-mentioned cash awards and gifts will be presented to needy local people at a musical event, entitled ‘Spring of Love’, on 31 January. It will take place at the Trung Vuong Theatre at 8pm.
