Many residents were seen taking sand on the beaches along Hoang Sa Street, and in Man Thai and Tho Quang areas, to reinforce their houses.

Mrs. Mai Thi Phuong, a resident of Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, expressed her worries about damages and flooding as her grade 4 house is in a low-lying area. She added she has placed about 20 sandbags onto her roofs so as to prevent winds from blowing them off.

Also in the sea area of Tho Quang Ward, compared to September 25, almost all of small fishing boats and coracles anchored here have been safely moved to shore by residents and functional forces.

According to Vice Chairwoman of Tho Quang Ward People's Committee Le Thi Kim Thuong, this afternoon, the ward's functional forces will coordinate with the border guards of Son Tra District to support locals to reinforce their houses ahead of typhoon Noru's arrival.

The ward authorities have till date mobilised 18 households with unstable houses in the Suoi Da area to go to their relatives' houses or to the concentrated evacuation points in the ward. Those who are living in temporarily-built houses in the locality will be evacuated to safer shelters.

As of 9:00 am on Monday, a total of 15,692 people in 3,853 households had been in need of being evacuating ahead of Noru’s arrival. Of which, 528 households will be evacuated to 31 concentrated shelters in the locality.

According to data published by the Son Tra District Border Guard Station, 27 vehicles, including 25 from Da Nang and 2 from other localities, are anchored at the Han River Port.

According to the latest statistics, 903 fishing boats are being anchored at the Tho Quang fishing port and wharf, 58 at the Con Ma area, and 75 at the Man Quang Bay. A total of 23 oil tankers have been moved out of the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf to ensure fire and explosion prevention in the area.

According to Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, the total number of households to be evacuated is expected to be 518 with 1,184 people. Through a quick report, there are 5 points in the district that are likely to cause flooding. The district authorities have coordinated with relevant units to deploy plan to prevent flooding and waterlogging and clear locations that obstruct the water flows to prevent flooding.

In a similar vein, the Thanh Khe District authorities have worked with relevant units to support residents to move 277 vehicles ashore. The situation and developments of typhoon Noru are promptly informed to local residents.

The Da Nang Water Supply JSC (DAWACO) has just advised customers to proactively store water for domestic use and use water sparingly before, during and after typhoon Noru in case the power grid is interrupted due to the typhoon affecting DAWACO's water supply plants.

DAWACO is currently increasing capacity at its water supply plants so that customers can store water ahead of the typhoon’s arrival.
