Many activities in response to International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in Da Nang
Viet Nam's National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has issued an official dispatch on organising activities to respond to the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (October 13) in Da Nang.
Accordingly, the above-mentioned agency, in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), organised a series of activities to convey messages on natural disaster and climate change prevention and control, promote the roles, responsibilities and active participation of the community, especially students, in disaster mitigation in the city.
In particular, in October 2022, the Standing Office, UNICEF and the Viet Nam Television Centre in the Central Highlands region (VTV8) jointly organised a gameshow entitled ‘Winning the internet: Joining with me to fight against natural disasters and climate change’ with the participation of students representing 5 junior high schools in coastal areas, usually often affected by natural disasters in the districts of Ngu Hanh Son, Son Tra, Hai Chau, Thanh Khe and Lien Chieu, with one school in each district.
After that, relevant agencies will organise relay running events themed natural disasters and climate change mitigation along My Khe Beach with the participation of 1,000 students aged 6 - 18, along with their parents, residents and visitors in the 3km amateur race and the 15km professional one.
