Shops selling flowers, gifts, clothes and decorative items across Da Nang have welcomed an increasing number of buyers in these days leading to the International Women’s Day.

According to recent surveys conducted at shops selling fresh flowers and traditional markets, there has been a significant increase in the number of buyers.

Ho Thi Thao Nguyen, the owner of a fresh flower shop in Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District, said a wide range of unique imported flowers with eye-catching colours are on sale at her shop. The number of visitors to the shop in recent days is increasing by almost 3 times compared to normal days.

She added although each bouquet of imported fresh flowers costs millions of VND, this type of products is still very popular. The price of roses this year is higher than last year, even higher than during Tet.

“The supply of fresh flower is quite abundant. In preparation for the International Women’s Day, I have already imported more than 5,000 flowers, but now most of them have been sold” said Mrs. Nguyen.

Specifically, yellow and red roses are priced at VND15,000 per sprig, a bunch of 10 lilies fluctuates from VND300,000 - VND500,000 depending on their sizes, and a bunch of 10 velvet roses cost VND300,000 - VND400,000.

Many flower baskets are being offered at the prices between VND250,000 and millions of VND each, depending on the types of flowers and sizes of baskets.

Meanwhile, flowers imported from Ecuador, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and the US are priced higher, ranging from VND85,000 to nearly VND400,000 per sprig. Double-petaled lilies cost VND380,000 per branch, ranunculus VND85,000 per sprig, and blue and black roses VND250,000 - VND300,000 per sprig.

Not only fresh flowers, gift items for women are being offered with attractive promotions and discounts to attract customers.

Mr. Do Huy Nam, the owner of a gift and souvenir shop in Hai Chau 1 Ward, Hai Chau District, said that lipsticks, perfumes and essential oils have been amongst the best-sellers since early March.

“Our store mainly sells domestically produced natural cosmetics and fragrances, attractive to many people, including breastfeeding mothers. In normal day, beauty and personal care products are priced from VND200,000 - VND1 million per item, but they are being sold from about VND150,000 - VND750,000 per item. This is a gift that we thank our mothers, sisters and women as a whole on the occasion of the International Women’s Day" Mr. Nam emphasised.

Along with low-cost products, valuable items receive a lot of attention from men.

Mrs. Nguyen Thi Kim Anh, Director of the Kim Khanh Viet Hung Co., Ltd in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, informed that the number of customers coming to choose jewelry and gemstones, mainly men, has increased sharply in these days.

“The price of gold is trending down. Particularly, the buying price of SJC gold was VND66.1 million per tael, whilst the selling price VND66.7 million per tael. Therefore, many people choose to buy gold jewelry as a precious gift for their women on the occasion of International Women’s Day" Mrs. Anh informed.

On the occasion, many beauty spas also offer attractive discounts for simple services such as facial massage, sauna and full body massage with discounts from 20-50%/service.

To attract customers, instead of launching discount programmes, cosmetics and beauty stores offer reasonable and attractive incentives such as gift cards or small product samples to try. Many stores also design their own products with beautiful bows or gift boxes in a bid to make gifts more attractive and meaningful.

Fresh flower shops have to mobilise on-site manpower to arrange flowers and bouquets to serve the increased demand of customers.

With an abundant supply, many fresh flower shops source a variety of flowers from domestic and foreign localities to serve the needs of customers.

Despite increased flower prices, fresh flower shops citywide has been an increasing number of buyers.

Gifts for International Women's Day (March 8) are also attractive to foreigners.

Practical gift products such as perfumes, essential oils and scented candles also receive a lot of attention from customers.

According to jewelry stores, products such as rings, necklaces and bracelets are sold very well on the occasion of International Women's Day.
