Free meals offered to people struggling financially due to Covid-19

For more than half a month, Mr Nguyen Duy Duc, a resident of Da Nang’s Thanh Khe District, who is the owner of the city-based Yen Vui Eatery, has been active in providing free meals daily for low-income people, and immigrant workers and students, in the city who are struggling financially because of Covid-19.

The 39-year-old man said his eatery are preparing meals and provide them to those in need, and his practical support have been funded by the Ho Chi Minh City-headquartered Bong Sen Charity Fund.

Mr Duc said that hundreds of people across the city have lost their jobs as a result of the current Covid-19 crisis, so he and some volunteers are trying to offer their help to those need it in a bid to assit them partly ease their financial burden during the pandemic.

Free meals are available for people who is struggling to pay because they have lost income due to Covid-19, in front of the Da Nang University of Science and Technology at 54 Nguyen Luong Bang Street in Lien Chieu District, the Hoa Khanh apartment building on Au Co Street in Lien Chieu District, the Cho Lon (Big Market) Electronics Supermarket at 559 Nguyen Huu Tho Stret in Cam Le District, the Yen Vui Eatery at 68 Ly Trien Street in Thanh Khe District, and a Son Tra District-based rental property the worker lives in.

In addition, 70 other portions of meals have been distributed to those in need living around the Con and Han traditional markets by volunteers.

Mr Duc said that each of portions of rice is valued at 20,000 VND and the menu changes daily to provide nutritious meals including vegetables, chicken, fish, and eggs for food receivers.
