Published: April 08, 2016

On Thursday, 100 stems of cherry blossom were delivered to Da Nang’s Asia Park in preparation for the upcoming 2016 Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival (Hanami Festival), which will take place at the park this Saturday and Sunday, 9 and 10 April.  To date, the total number of cherry blossom stems donated to the park for the festival is 300.

According to the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, 150 stems of cherry blossom will be placed in a wooden tree trunk located outside the park for people who want to admire the beauty of cherry blossoms free-of-charge.

The remaining 150 stems will be placed inside the park, interspersed with artificial cherry blossom trees, during the festival in order to help local residents and visitors gain an insight into the cultural symbol of Japan.

The event will recreate the fascinating Hanami Festival, which is held annually in Japan in April.

Visitors to the festival will be treated to a variety of interesting demonstrations by Japanese artistes.  These will include Yosakoi dancing, cosplay costume-wearing, tea ceremonies, and calligraphy.  In addition, there will be special areas for displaying over 3,000 traditional handicraft products from Japan, and introducing Japanese cuisine.

The entrance fee to the park is 200,000 VND per person.
