On Thursday, the Da Nang Union of Literature and Arts Associations reviewed the city’s literature and arts activities in 2016, and identified its new tasks for next year.

Over the past year, the local literature and arts sector has recorded significant achievements.  In particular, the Music, Fine Arts and Photography associations have gained numerous prizes in municipal and national-level competitions and exhibitions.

As for 2017, the Union will focus on enhancing the quality of art works and ensuring the success of arts events in the city.  Included are the South Central Region and Highlands Music Festival 2017, the 15^th Vietnamese Poetry Day, and seminars on ‘bai choi’ (singing while acting as playing cards), Thu Bon - a talented poet from Quang Nam Province, and Nguyen Van Xuan and the culture and history of Quang Nam Province.

Speaking at the review meeting, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung praised the Union for its great efforts in promoting the development of the local cultural sector.  He also urged local relevant agencies to make even greater efforts to create new high-quality art works which feature the upcoming major political, economic and cultural events in the city.

During the meeting, the Union presented awards to 5 of its members for their outstanding works in 2016, and Certificates of Merit to individuals and groups in recognition of their outstanding achievements during 2016.
