As shared by Mr Cu, four years ago, he boldly converted an one-tonne truck into a mobile ‘shop’ selling coffee and ‘banh mi’ sandwich for beachgoers and morning exercisers on the Tho Quang beach.

At first, the shop only served roasted pork ‘banh mi’, then added coffee, refreshments and chilled bottled water to make its menu diverse. His special ‘banh mi’ shop has earned its popularity due to high-quality pork with crispy skin when roasted, blended with wet, soft and fragrant flesh creating a delicious flavour.

In addition to the attractive ingredients, the delicious roast pork ‘banh mi’ is also thanks to the meticulous processing of Mrs Van - Mr Cu's wife. She is careful in choosing herbs, peppers as well as in chopping roasted pork with spices so that all ingredients can penetrate each other's flavours. Every morning, the shop sells nearly 500 loaves of ‘banh mi’.

The fillings inside mainly include meat, laksa leaves, spring onions, chilli, mixed with salt and pepper, broth to retain the natural flavour of the pork. Before delivering any loaf of ‘banh mi’ to customers, Mr Cu always grills it over charcoal to stimulate the customers' taste and smell.

When asked why he only sells in the morning even though the number of customers is always high, Mr Cu said that roasted pork is crispy and fragrant only in the morning, and the quality is no longer guaranteed when left over midday.

It can be said that thanks to the attentiveness, enthusiasm and friendliness of the owners, many diners do not mind the long-distance but drive to the sea to purchase a crispy loaf of roasted pork bread and enjoy it with a cup of fragrant coffee.
