RATP buys Mappy from the former Yellow Pages, SoLocal
Mappy has just been bought by the RATP from the SoLocal group, publisher of the Yellow Pages, to offer from 2021 a “companion” suggesting journeys by metro, RER, private car or scooter, announced the group on Monday.
Third most consulted mobility player in France, after Google Maps and Waze, Mappy is strengthening its subsidiary RATP Smart Systems, the group announced in a press release. The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. “What we want is to be THE benchmark partner for smart cities,” said Hiba Farès, director in charge of customer experience, services and marketing at RATP. “With this alliance, we are giving ourselves the concrete means. We are going to explore with Mappy a universe where the possibilities are numerous ”.
The next step for the two companies: “combine their services in a single application and include the possibility of reserving and paying for their journeys directly from a mobile phone”, explains the RATP. In Île-de-France, the RATP group’s digital services will include, in particular, a complete mapping of the region, a pedestrian and bicycle GPS as well as the addresses of professionals. It will also be possible to book and pay for trips there. The group will then be able to offer this turnkey mobility solution to other cities and regions. Nationwide, Mappy’s multimodal comparator will integrate new partners and offer an offer combining car, park and ride and public transport.
“It is with great pride that we are selling this asset to the RATP group, which becomes, with this agreement, a long-term strategic partner”, underlined Pierre Danon, CEO of Solocal. “This sale is in line with our strategy of refocusing on our strategic businesses,” said Pierre Danon. “Mappy will continue to be the cartographic solution and the route planner for our PagesJaunes site and our customers will be able to continue to benefit from preferential visibility on the Mappy media.
